The Bulgarian Red Cross is an autonomous, humanitarian organization that assists the state in the humanitarian field, in preparing for action in the event of martial law, military conflicts, and disasters, in protecting and strengthening the health of the population, and in educating it in a spirit of high morality, compassion, and charity, as well as in receiving, storing, and distributing aid provided by foreign countries, organizations, and citizens for humanitarian purposes, including environmental and cultural-educational ones.
The Bulgarian Red Cross is a proud member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Guided by the fundamental principles of Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality.
Our Activities
The Bulgarian Red Cross carries out a wide range of humanitarian initiatives, including:
- Disaster preparedness and response
- Mountain and water rescue operations
- First aid training and health education
- Social and community services
- Blood donation campaigns
- Support for refugees and migrants
- Youth engagement and international cooperation
Our Structure
The organization operates through a four-tier structure:
- Social Level
- Municipal Level
- Regional Level – 28 regional organizations, including Sofia
- National Level – governed by the General Assembly (supreme body) and the National Council (main executive and administrative body)
At both the national and regional levels, the Bulgarian Red Cross is supported by a professional Administrative and Executive Secretariat, ensuring the effective coordination of all activities.
The State has always supported the Bulgarian Red Cross and has repeatedly shown respect and recognition for its significant contribution to the humanitarian field. This partnership strengthens the organization’s capacity to serve people in need and respond effectively in times of crisis.

Coordinator of the Integration-Information Center in Sofia and Bulgarian language courses for refugees at the Refugee and Migrant Service of the Bulgarian Red Cross. Main responsibilities include assisting in monitoring the center’s activities, maintaining the database, organizing and conducting language courses, preparing monthly reports, and actively participating in meetings, seminars, and training sessions.
Motivated and adaptable professional with academic training in Human Rights and Diplomacy (MA, University of Stirling) and International Relations (BA, Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski), complemented by international experience through Erasmus+ in Germany in European University Viadrina, Frankfurt (Oder) and an internship at the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Human Rights Directorate were responsibilities ranged from attended official meetings and writing down minutes, research and analysis of human rights topics, including political developments and issues in peace and security, combating human trafficking.
Practical experience includes internships at the UNICEF Country Office in Ankara, focusing on WASH and Climate Resilience, where responsibilities ranged from quality research for organizational partnership development, working on water, sanitation, and hygiene emergency response projects. Additionally, participation was involved in workshops and sessions about the structure and function of the organization.
Skilled in research, cross-cultural communication, public speaking, teamwork, and adaptability.
