The Complutense University of Madrid currently has more than 83,000 students, more than 6000 professors and researchers and more than 3000 administrative staff. There are over 300 Official degree and post-degree programmes, and about 200 life-long teaching programmes. They cover almost all areas of knowledge. Complutense University has two campuses in Madrid: Moncloa and Somosaguas. Some other university premises are also located in the centre of Madrid. Research is considered one of the basic pillars of the UCM university which shows strong willingness to collaborate and adequate human and financial resources. In the current socioeconomic context, both the participation of UCM research teams in international conferences and gatherings and “The Complutense Research Environment” is promoted. In doing so, it is fostering the collaboration between UCM research teams and those of other universities or research centers. The ultimate goal of these efforts is to promote patent development and the transfer of knowledge. The UCM has 26 Faculties, 37 research centers, 98 Departments and 32 libraries.
The Faculty of Social Work has around 2000 students, 100 professors, and 25 employees. There is a bachelor’s degree in social work, including a Minor in Social Work in English; two Official Masters in Community Social Work and in LGTBIQ studies; and a Master in Social Mediation and another in Conflict Management and in Family Therapy. There are also PhD studies in Social Work. The faculty is involved in VirCamp, a Social Work-Virtual Campus, which is part of the thematic network EUSW – European Social Work Commonalities and Difference. María Dolores (Lola) Domínguez García. She is Associated Professor at the Department of Applied, Public, and Political Economy at the Complutense University of Madrid, where she works since 2016. She teaches Economy to Social work students at the Faculty of Social Work. Previously, in 2007, she defended her PhD at the University of Wageningen (The Netherlands). Later, she was working at the University of Vigo (Spain), where she was researcher and lecturer in different economy subjects. Since 2021, she is the Vice-dean for international affairs and mobility of the Faculty of Social Work at the Complutense University of Madrid.
Her focus research has been on agrarian economics and urban and rural sustainable development based on co-creation processes, using a bottom-up and an actor-oriented approach. In doing so, her research uses an integrating and transdisciplinary approach with methods and theory from different disciplines, namely Agroecology, Sociology, and Ecological Economics. Recently, given her work at the Faculty of Social work, she has included a more social and gender sensitive approach in her research and lectures. She collaborates with Social Worker colleagues and takes part in different social work programmes and activities.
Her research work includes a number of articles in top JCR, SJR journals, book chapters, etc.. All of them reflect her multidisciplinary research trajectory and collaboration with international researchers in the fields of agricultural economics and sociology, regional economics, and the environment. Carla Cubillos Vega

Carla Cubillos Vega is a Social Worker, Master’s in Community Social Work, Management and Evaluation of Social Services, and PhD in Social Work (University Complutense of Madrid, UCM, Spain). Specialist Diploma in Human Rights, Gender and Public Policies and Postdoctoral studies in transitional justice policies (Universidad de Valparaíso, Chile).
Currently, she is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Social Work and Social Services at UCM, where she is a member of GrupoLab, a research laboratory in social intervention, and the Group Anthropology of Social and Cultural Policies (APSYC).
Her main research areas are Human Rights Education and the Human Rights-Based Approach in public policies, ethics applied to public policies, reproductive technologies, and reparation measures in the transitional justice field.

María Arnal is a Senior Lecturer of Sociology at the University Complutense of Madrid (UCM), Spain, Department of Sociology: Methodology and Theory. Currently, she is Vice Dean of Research at the Faculty of Social Work at the UCM. She is a UCM member of EGECO Research Group (Employment, Gender & Social Cohesion), Research Group on International Migrations (GEMI) and affiliated researcher at the TRANSOC Institute (Sociology for the study of the Social Changes, UCM).
Her research focuses on the study of different processes of social exclusion in globalised societies, mainly using qualitative methodology. These works delve into the transformation of work and employment and their consequences for employment conditions and the lives of workers, new forms of poverty and the migratory phenomenon, especially international migration and interethnic relations.
She has participated in several national and international projects on these issues.
