Within the framework of the European project TRAM4DW – Transnational Migrant Counselling for Decent Work, implemented in Spain by the Complutense University of Madrid and the NGO ACCESOphia, we invite you to participate in the conference “Migrating with Rights: Challenges for Spain and Europe”, a space for dialogue and reflection on migrants’ rights and the main challenges posed by migration and labour mobility in Spain and Europe.
The event is held with the collaboration of the Directorate-General for Social Services and Integration of the Ministry of Family, Youth and Social Affairs of the Community of Madrid and will take place on 17 September, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at CEPI Madrid-Arganzuela(Ronda de Segovia, 34 – 28005 Madrid).
With human rights as the foundation of a democratic society, the conference addresses, from different professional and institutional perspectives, some of the main challenges affecting migrants in the areas of migration policies, access to rights, and social and labour integration.
The conference will open with the keynote lecture “Human Rights and Migration: Principles for a Democratic Society”, delivered by Mr Álvaro Gil-Robles y Gil-Delgado, President of the Fundación Valores Democráticos and former First Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe.
The first round table, “Main Changes in Immigration Legislation in Spain and the EU: An Analysis from Professional Experience”, will bring together perspectives from the legal, trade union, social and public administration sectors. The discussion will examine developments in immigration legislation and their implications, drawing on the experience of professionals and policymakers directly involved in migration policies and services for migrants.
The second round table, “Labour and Social Rights of Migrants in Spain and the EU: Challenges and Opportunities”, will focus on issues related to labour mobility, employment, social protection, and the living and working conditions of migrants. The participation of representatives from the institutional, academic and business sectors will provide different perspectives on the challenges and opportunities involved in advancing towards fairer and safer labour mobility.
The event will bring together representatives of public administrations, universities, trade unions and civil society organisations, professionals, experts and other stakeholders working in the fields of migration, employment and social rights, fostering the exchange of knowledge, experiences and perspectives.
The conference is aligned with the objectives of the TRAM4DW project, which aims to contribute to the promotion of decent work for EU citizens and migrants with regular status, while also providing a space for the dissemination and transfer of knowledge among the different stakeholders involved.
