The german Hub of the TRAM4DW project is glad to announce the successful recruitment of their trainee for the first year of the project, as well as their introduction to the german TRAM4DW-Hub,
situated in Hamburg, and its partners. As political debates internationally gravitate around questions regarding the future of the labour market and its legal frameworks, educating not only the workers subject to changes themselves, but also the professionals commited to supporting them will be an essential part in working towards decent and stable labour conditions across national borders.
WHICH GERMAN PARTNERS PARTICIPATE IN TRAM4DW?
The hosting organisation Arbeit und Leben Hamburg specializes in counseling migrants from the EU on the subject of labour laws, supporting them in exercising their rights as workers and providing courses of action in the case of labour law violations. It will be coordinating the german Hub in cooperation with the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences as its scientific partner.
The combined forces of practical experience and theoretical framebuilding are expected to create a strong foundation for transnational cooperation, connection and mutual education of working professionals.
HOW IS THE TRAINEESHIP STRUCTURED?
In preparation for the practical implementation of TRAM4DW, an official listing was spread by the project’s coordinator among the eligible students of the faculty for social work at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. After an initial meeting between the hosting organisation and the chosen student, the traineeship officially started on the 4th of May 2026.
Since the traineeship is mandated by the university to have a duration of at least six months starting in October 2026, as well as a currently ongoing introduction phase, the trainee will be accompanying TRAM4DW from now on until approximately March 2027.
WHO IS THE SELECTED TRAINEE?
For the german hub‘s trainee position, the decision fell on a student enrolled at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences named Josefine John. She is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in the university‘s faculty of social work and, as of yet, has been aquiring most of herpractical experience in low-threshold-organisations assisting people in securing their basic human needs. This has provided her with hands-on experience in reaching and working with people subjected to precarious living and working conditions and helping them secure their livelyhood as well as exercise their rights. She is fluent in German, English and basic Spanish and can provide insights into the living conditions of Germany‘s most vulnerable groups.
The trainee‘s tasks will include, among other things, a supporting role in the development of workshops, events and educational resources through research and organisational efforts, while gathering further experience in the legal framework of labour regulations, counseling and establishing professional connections.
An integral part of the trainee‘s experience will be the participation in the international conference anticipated for the first week of November 2026, where the Hubs from Bulgaria, Ukraine, Spain and Germany will get a chance to connect face-to-face.
„I am very excited to be able to take part in the TRAM4DW project and I look forward to meeting my new colleagues from our partnering Hubs. It will present a great chance for all of us
participating,“ commented Ms. John in regards to the upcoming events.
This unique experience presents an unprecedented opportunity for transnational cooperation and the
mutual exchange of ideas, experiences and discussions.
